Jennifer Martin Rieck is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. After a career in Clinical Microbiology at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System and the Veteran’s Health Administration, followed by years at home raising her three daughters, she decided to switch courses. Motivated by her own life experiences, which had led her to a distinct awareness of the impact of Mental Health challenges on individuals and relationships, she pursued and obtained a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and is a Certified Clinical Telemental Health Provider.
Jenn has a passion for working with individuals who are struggling with Mental Health concerns, particularly concerns related to past trauma or current relationship struggles. With a firm belief that the impact of early relationships and trauma continues to influence our future behavior, thoughts, feelings, and beliefs about ourselves and the world, Jenn is dedicated to taking the time needed to fully explore those past experiences that may be impacting an individual’s current struggles.
Jenn specializes in using Schema-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to explore the long-lasting impact of early relationship experiences and trauma. Jenn leverages the power of relationship and dialogue to not only foster healing from past injuries and trauma but to assist her clients in discovering and defining the life that they want to build moving forward. She believes that healing from previous experiences can not only lead to overcoming Mental Health challenges, but also to a life full of meaning, hope, and purpose.
Jenn has obtained focused training in grief counseling and trauma counseling and combines this knowledge with Schema Therapy, a therapy that builds on the highly researched and effective Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, broadening these techniques to encompass relational beliefs about self and others, including attachment difficulties and relationship patterns. Cognitive-Behavioral psychotherapy has been proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders. Jenn also has a passion for helping individuals heal Narcissistic and Self-Sacrificing relationship patterns and improve parent-child relationships.
